The gas gauge needle then started blocking the temperature gauge, which caused that needle not to work properly. When starting the car before shifting out of park it will read 40+ mph. They will pretty pretty much spin around at different points.
He told me how to temporarily correct the problem. Eventually would make it to 0 and work for a couple days and the go back over 110mph. This occurs at least twice a year. I did some research to find out I was not the only one who owner a 2004 cavalier and the gauges go all haywire. Pretty expensive repair for a cavalier owner. In 2006 I was driving doing 20 mph in a school zone and noticed my speedometer read 110, the gas gauge showed empty and the temperature gauge had moved all the way around and was sitting on the speedometer needle. Time to drive it 'til it stops. This happened without warning while I was driving on the highway and could easily have caused an accident. I'm thinking about drilling a whole in the plastic cover over it and inserting a nail to stop the needle from entering the speedometer gauge range. Gauge stick also when it gets cold outside. Other times they won't go back to the starting position when the car is turned off, which makes it a pain in the ass when I get in. My gas gauge never works properly.
