Indeed, the transmission fluid has to be Nissan Matic J for the warranty to remain in effect , but the transfer fluid can be Nissan Matic D or equivalent. The book asks for Nissanmatic, I went to Napa and they told me Dexron would work. Tighten the screws evenly with a torque wrench. So im going to be flushing the transmission fluid here pretty soon and i have never done it before i would really like to know what i need before i get into it.

I don't know the answer to that question, unfortunately! I've had standard maintenance done to it - other than that I've had to replace the battery and radiator - no other mechanical failures! Before I do this I want to know for sure. If the transmission fluid level in your Altima is low, you need to add transmission fluid through the dipstick tube. Just a reminder, before you add transmission fluid, make sure you check the level properly. Installation is in the reverse of removal. When is the code detected? I would assume that both of these are far superior to the Nissan stuff. If it's anything from honey-colored to black, it's engine oil.
